Test Drive Your Ride

In the age of internet, more and more people are using sites like cars.com to find a new ride. While this allows you to see more cars in a shorter amount of time and avoid pushy salesmen, this isn’t always the most helpful method for you to use.  Sure, it allows you to read reviews and all, but how do you know if it truly is the right car for you? Visiting a dealer in person, such as Ford McAllen TX, offers you the best bet in purchasing the perfect car for you.

Ask the Right Questions

Going to a dealership can be a hassle, but it is worth the effort. You will look at a number of possibilities and the salesperson will ask what questions you may have about the specific vehicle you are currently looking at. Some of these questions will differ depending on if you are purchasing a new or used car. A list of questions can include:

  • How many miles does the car have on it?
  • What is the MPG (miles per gallon) for city and highway driving?
  • How much horsepower does the car have?
  • How many cylinders does the vehicle have?
  • Were there any previous owners?
  • What type of warranty comes with this car?
  • Has it ever been involved in any accidents?
  • Are there financing options available?

Test Drive

How will you know if you like the handling of the car if you don’t take the vehicle for a test drive? This allows you to get a feel for turning, braking, accelerating, etc. Testing driving also allows you to see if you have enough leg room and head room for comfortable driving. You wouldn’t want to purchase a vehicle you are uncomfortable in. By shopping and purchasing a car online, you do not have these advantages.

Close the Deal

After talking to the salesperson and taking the car for a test drive, it is time to go inside and sit down to discuss the price of your new car. Come into this knowing the MSRP (manufacturer’s suggested retail price). This allows you to haggle with the dealer who will most likely be asking for a higher price. Now is also the time to try to negotiate for upgrades and extra features.  While this part of the process can be stressful and annoying, at least you are face to face with someone and you will know exactly what you are getting when you sign the paperwork.

While websites allow you the luxury of shopping from home, dealers such as Ford McAllen TX allow you the opportunity to see the cars in person and test drive them. Just remember, choosing the right vehicle for you doesn’t have to be a hassle.
